the Grapes of Rad #116: Luke Burbank

What a great week! Not only were we featured in print for the first time, we’re thrilled to welcome back our friend Luke Burbank to the newly remodeled Studio B! If you’re a 10, and this is your first time listening to The Grapes of Rad, we’d like to say hi and hope you enjoy the show even a little bit as much as we liked having Luke on again.

The last time he was here (in Oct 2009), a bunch of his listeners stuck around and have been incredibly kind to Ben and me. We will always owe a debt of gratitude to Luke and you, the TBTL audience.

Topics include: Luke’s experience on RadioLab, our Judgement Day Party, Ben’s new iPhone was stolen (but he got it back!), dodgeball, Luke REALLY wanted his iPhone, listening to older shows, all 3 of us were mentioned in this month’s Seattle Magazine, renting adult movies as a young man, This Week in Fail, Bill Hicks is the Tom Waits of comedy, Listener Philip is our Badass of the Week, plagiarism, Luke’s book My Child My Enemy, Republicans in Mississippi on interracial marriage, Liberty University vs. The Corporation for Public Broadcasting, Montana is Really Big, Just the Headline, and TMU.

Game Boy Music (but it’s not what you thinkā€¦)

Go see TBTL in Chicago on May 6th & 7th. And, if you’re local, Luke is hosting a comedy show on 4/20 at Seattle’s Chop Suey and the promo is awesome:

A special congratulations to our sponsor Mighty-O Donuts who, after winning The Food Network’s Donut Challenge, are officially the best donuts in the entire country! We’re not saying we told you so, but we fucking told you so.
